24 hours

24 hours Everything I Touch You Touch from Kirby Masterman on Vimeo.

This was a study that involved documenting everything I touched for 24 hours.
It revealed to me how tedious “simple” tasks are such as making buttered toast:

Open pantry doors > pick up air tight container > remove lid > remove bread from container > unclip the little bag seal device > remove bread slices > clip seal back on bread bag > place bread back in container > close lid on container > put container in food pantry > close pantry doors > open appliances cupboard doors > remove toaster > plug in toaster > flick the on switch > close appliances cupboard door > pick up bread slice > put in toaster > pull handle down > set timing nob > open fridge door > remove butter > close fridge door > open cutlery draw > remove butter knife > close cutlery draw > remove toast from toaster….

I got tired just writing that and we haven’t even finished buttering the toast and putting everything away!

I didn’t make toast in these 24hrs, it’s just too hard!

Structure.

This was a study of creating a supporting structure to hold the human form in an obscure position.
A quarter size model was designed and constructed initially, and then a team assisted with the construction of a 1:1 scale version. The 1:1 Structure held the weight of four people, up and over 240kg! The 1:4 scale model could hold up to 65kg!
